Singapore, July 28, 2025.
Friends & Family Pet Food Co. has received regulatory approval from Singapore's Animal & Veterinary Services (AVS) to commercially sell cultivated meat-based pet food in Singapore.
With this approval, Friends & Family becomes the first cultivated meat pet food approved for commercial sale in Asia, joining only a handful of cultivated meat companies with regulatory clearance anywhere in the world.
Made-in-Singapore approach
The AVS issued its approval in June 2025, after reviewing Friends & Family's safety, nutritional and production data to the same rigorous standard applied to Singapore's human food regulatory system. The review also required additional documentation specific to pet nutrition, labeling and manufacturing licensing.
Friends & Family will begin production of cultivated meat treats for cats and dogs in Singapore in fall 2025. All manufacturing will be local to Singapore.
What will be in Friends & Family's cultivated meat pet treats?

The company's inaugural products are freeze-dried treats for cats and dogs, with human-grade cultivated poultry as the first ingredient. The poultry is modeled on heritage birds, the free-range, naturally raised quail that have been part of traditional village life across Southeast Asia for centuries.
Like those birds, Friends & Family's cultivated poultry contains no antibiotics, hormones, chlorine or additives common in modern factory farming. The company will launch with eight SKUs in the Singapore pet food market, with more to follow.
One treat line features prebiotic fibers shown to support gut health and immunity in animals. A second SKU focuses on skin and coat health in cats and dogs, using target postbiotics.

"Part of the Friends & Family mission is not to simply replace the protein in the pet food supply chain, but to improve the underlying protein cats and dogs eat. We can optimize cultivated meat to have higher levels of nutrients and improve digestibility and nutrient absorption. And we believe we can make much better meat for our cats and dogs." Joshua Errett, CEO and Founder, Friends & Family Pet Food Co.

Why is Friends & Family only in Singapore?

Singapore was the first country in the world to approve cultivated meat for human consumption, granting that clearance from the Singapore Food Agency in 2020. That regulatory track record made Singapore the natural home for Friends & Family's launch.
According to Singapore's Animal & Veterinary Services, the AVS approval process for pet food requires the same level of safety and nutritional evidence as Singapore's human food system, with additional standards specific to pet nutrition, labeling, and manufacturing licensing.
"This is a big step for the cultivated meat industry, and for Singapore, which soon will be the only place in the world where you can buy your cat or dog a cultivated treat." Maurice Yeo, COO, Friends & Family Pet Food Co.
Friends & Family has an existing inventory of cultivated meat and plans to expand across Asia and into the United States. Learn more about the company's mission at friendsandfamily.pet/about-us.
